Sambalpur: Reaction of the 662 Category Faculty Staff Union over difference in salary hike, demands letter to Chief Minister
Sambalpur: In the state cabinet meeting held on 21st, Nikhil Odisha 662 category private college faculty and staff union strongly opposed the fixed salary system for faculty and staff. In the state cabinet meeting held on December 30 last year, it was decided to pay the salary on the basis of the seventh salary.
Based on this, according to the notification number 1396 issued by the Department of Higher Education last year, the teachers were paid the same salary at the same rate for 1 year. But on January 21, the Cabinet decided to show favor to some faculty and staff and announced a salary of 10,000 rupees. After that, 662 category teachers and staff who get 4600 grade pay are being ignored from 488 category P.E.T, librarian, demonstrator who get 4200 grade pay.
Taking it seriously, the union has accused that the bureaucrats have taken such a stupid decision by keeping the chief minister in the dark. Due to this, the teachers have only suffered financial losses and their reputation has been lost in Nahachi society 3 consecutive increments were given to the teachers who were doing the same job for 1 year and the salary of both categories of teachers would have been equal. However, the union questioned why the 488 category would be given a huge favor without doing so.
In this context, they demanded that the Chief Minister should intervene immediately, otherwise they will protest in Bhubaneswar on the 3rd and warned that non-cooperation and cancellation of evaluation will be done in the upcoming exams. On behalf of Sambalpur district, many faculty members of 22 universities attended the protest program on Wednesday and presented demand letters to the additional district governor for the Chief Minister. Union president Ashok Purohit, editor Vishwapati Behera and many faculty members were present while presenting demand letters.
