Sambalpur: Ring Road Project to Connect Sambalpur with Burla did not work
Sambalpur: Various proposals are being made at the government level to develop the city of Sambalpur. The state government is also announcing many projects. After some progress at the administrative level, the work is stalling. After the second bridge above the Mahanadi at Sambalpur, another ring road was proposed to connect Burla with the city. The survey was done. It didn’t work.
It is worth noting that a ring road was proposed to connect Burla with Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation in 2016. As per the proposal, it was decided to construct a 14 km two-lane road from Chaurpur to Burla Ashok Niwas after the Mahanadi bridge was completed. In that order, a company was appointed to survey the road before construction. The survey was done by CADD Construction Private Limited. Even the ring road was to be done in two phases.
In the first phase, a 3.5 km road will be constructed from Chaurpur to NH 53 Power channel, and in the second phase, a road is planned to be constructed from NH 53 to Ashok Niwas through Kirba, Gaudpali, and village burla. However, the survey company reported that a total of 52 acres of private land will be affected by the road. So the district administration took steps to buy directly from the people. People expressed dissatisfaction with the land price and refused to give up the land. As a result, the administration planned to take steps toward land acquisition and ring roads under the Land Acquisition Act. The proposal has since been limited to the survey. There is a general complaint that Sambalpur and Burla residents have been given a ring road dream and lollipops.
It is said that the ring road project is absolutely necessary for both Sambalpur and Burla. Because Burla has everything from universities to health care to vimsar, vssut. Thousands of students will benefit from this road. Sambalpur residents can also go directly to Burla. Residents of Burla can always commute to the Sambalpur metropolis. Apart from this, patients and relatives coming from different districts for healthcare can also travel to Sambalpur city with ease. Therefore, the district administration is demanding to take the necessary steps.
