Sambalpur Road, the oldest railway station in the state, has started to be demolished; Roadblocks in protest
Sambalpur: A few days ago, people protested for the security of the Fatak station, and despite public protests, the demolition of the Sambalpur Road Fatak railway station was reported to have started this morning. Local people blocked the road in protest.
Notably, Sambalpur Road Fatak railway station is one of the oldest railway stations in the state. All the superfast trains used to stop here. Its proximity to GM College made it more convenient for commuters. The railway authorities closed the ticket booking counters showing various reasons. Also, some parts of platform number 3 were demolished recently. A satisfactory answer was not given in order to break the platform. There was a sign of permanent closure of the fatak station. Therefore, it was demanded that the Sambalpur Road Fatak railway station should be functional as before with all the basic facilities for the users. It was demanded that ticket booking counters should be re-functioned as well as accommodation arrangements for trains. Railway authorities started the demolition of Sambalpur Road Fatak Railway Station today at Morning. In protest, people blocked the road on the Fatak overbridge for an hour. A large police force has been deployed at the scene.
