Sambalpur: Sacrifice of animals ends at the famous Nuamunda Puja of Redhakhol
Redhakhol: The famous Nuamunda Puja of Redhakhol, which has been going on since the reign of King Rajuda, has been held on Sunday in the gathering of hundreds of devotees. Many ancient sacrificial practices were discontinued this year. No animals were sacrificed. On Sunday morning, after worshiping at Maa Dak Bauti Devi temple in Ambedkarnagar, Maa was brought in a procession to the Panch Toka temple at Rajbati. After worshiping Ma Dukka Bauti and Panch Toka Deity in the Panch Toka Temple, a huge procession took place in traditional folk songs. Royal family members Birkishore Deo and Vikram Deo also participated in the procession. Devotees from Rathsahi, Yadumanipatna, LIC Colony areas performed puja while the procession went. At the end of the procession, it reached Nuamunda Pidh near Kerandi Dam at the appointed time. Worship was performed there by the dehuris. Today, Achyut Amat, Agasti Pradhan, Prafulla Dehuri, Munu Dehuri, Niranjan Dehuri, Prashant Pradhan and Kalia Pradhan were the main worshipers in this Nuam Munda Puja. After the puja at Nuammunda Pidh, a procession from the back of Panch Toka Deity and Ma Dark Bauti came out from the back of Samand Dekadevi and went around the city and entered their respective temples. On this occasion, the entire city was filled with celebration and a spiritual atmosphere was created. Devotees from urban as well as rural areas also participated in this puja. Sunil Bagh and Lokeshwar Kalta participated in the worship of Maa Dak Bauti. Puja committee president Dhrubacharan Pradhan, block president Pradeep Pradhan, NAC president Shivram Sahu, senior lawyer Shiv Prasad Pradhan, councilor Amaresh Naik, BJP leader Govind Agarwal, Alekha Pradhan, Wisnanranjan Pradhan, Kunj Bihari Nand, Laxman Pradhan, Biren Singh, Mahabir were present at the event. Singhdeo, Bablu Dev and Jaydev Priseth were prominently involved.
