Sambalpur: Sambalpur District Bans Hanuman Jayanti Procession Due to Multiple Reasons
Sambalpur: There will be no Hanuman Jayanti procession this year. Procession and worship will be limited to temples, padas, and residences. Keeping in mind the general elections and law and order, the district government made this decision after discussing it with the Hanuman Jayanti Coordination Committee.
The Peace and Harmony Committee met in the district council conference room in celebration of Shriram Nabami and Hanuman Jayanti 2024 in a peaceful manner. The meeting was chaired by District Collector Akshay Sunil Agrawal. Because this is an election year, the District Magistrate stated that it should be fair and unbiased. There should be no re-polling, vandalism, or violence in the 2024 elections. Keeping these three factors in mind, the District Governor requested cooperation.
Last year’s Hanuman Jayanti procession saw extensive violence. As a result, the district administration banned the procession for a year. As a result, the procession was canceled following the same concept. The Hanuman Jayanti Coordination Committee has also agreed to the decision of the district administration.
The District Magistrate praised the residents for their continued cooperation and trust in the district government following the recent bombing of Peerbaba Chowk. He also stated that more importance will be placed on preventing similar incidents. Similarly, a paramilitary group has been appointed to oversee the poll. The district’s administrative and police personnel attended the meeting.
