Sambalpur: Sambalpur’s Traffic Bias; Govt. Vehicle Smokes Like Factory Ignored, Public Penalized for Minor Violations
Sambalpur: Ordinary people in Sambalpur face heavy penalties for even minor traffic violations. They will face penalties if they are caught without a helmet or their vehicle’s documents are checked. However, government vehicles in Sambalpur appear to be free from such rules.
A special government vehicle with the registration number OR 02BZ 9481 from the Debottar division caught everyone’s interest in Sambalpur City. This car is being used on public roads while without proper documentation or emissions clearance. The vehicle releases thick smoke, similar to that of a small factory. People moving behind the vehicle on the road had difficulty breathing thanks to the smoke.
Despite this obvious violation of the rules, no police officer stops or questions this government vehicle as it drives through the city. This has created the impression among the public that the vehicle receives special treatment just because it belongs to a government department. There is discussion in the city over the separate set of rules that appear to apply to government vehicles vs vehicles owned by common citizens.
