Sambalpur: Sanjiv Mittal’s resignation from the post of Chancellor of Sambalpur University
Sambalpur: According to a reliable source, Information received that Controversial Chancellor of Sambalpur University Prof. Sanjiv Mittal has finally resigned from his post. Mr. Mittal, who was on compulsory leave, sent his resignation letter to the Governor as his leave was about to end. As the Governor Sri. Ganeshi Lal is no longer in Odisha, so Mr. Mittal’s resignation has not been accepted. It is said that the governor will take a decision on his resignation after he returns on the 31st. In case of his resignation, the governor is likely to give the additional charge of Sambalpur University to the chancellor of another nearby university. However, the situation is not clear yet.
Sambalpur University Chancellor Prof. Mittal has been embroiled in various controversies since taking charge as Chancellor. Starting from cutting down expensive trees in the university campus, becoming the prime accused in the murder of contract employee Dinbandhu Mishra, getting anticipatory bail from the High Court, removing the permanent chairman of L.R. He was embroiled in controversies for doing shady things like awarding doctorates to businessmen, having less gold in the gold medals awarded and finally transferring around Rs 29 lakh of Swachh University campaign funds to the bank accounts of his wife and son. Due to his actions, he became a thorn in the neck of the government. Finally, he was indirectly asked to resign by the government. But Mr. Mittal left on leave. After extending his leave twice, he is said to have finally sent his resignation letter.
