Sambalpur: Sewerage Department Gone Mad; Digging Up Every New Road!
Sambalpur: The ongoing sewerage project in Sambalpur has caused widespread disruption as the department is digging up one road after another to lay pipes. Despite repairing the roads after digging, the condition of the roads is not returning to their original state. The department seems to be carrying out the work in a haphazard manner, touching the roads and leaving them in poor condition.
The raised elevations of the repaired roads are obstructing traffic flow, and evidence of this can be seen in various parts of the city. The situation has become so concerning that people are criticizing the department for digging up and disrupting the newly constructed roads.
The sewerage department’s pipe-laying work began a long time ago. However, the work on Durga Mandap Chowk in Sakhipada was suspended midway. The critical point is that the road restoration work on this street was completed just last month. The department remained inactive while the road was being constructed, only to dig it up again for pipe-laying after the completion of the road work.
Another example of this disruptive approach is the road in front of the State Bank SME branch, which was dug up and then repaired, causing inconvenience for commuters and pedestrians.
