Sambalpur: Silver Jubilee speech by Setu, new pedagogy can bring revolutionary changes
Sambalpur: On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of Setu and in collaboration with Odisha Secondary Teachers Association (OSTA), a state conference has been held at Gangadhar Meher University. In the context of the National Education Policy 2020, titled ‘Quality Education and School Management – A Challenge’, the speakers opinioned that the National Education Policy 2020 was passed with the aim of a revolutionary change in the education sector. It contains many proposals to bring about structural and qualitative changes in education, which should be implemented in 2021 and completed within 2030. But so far our national curriculum preparation has not been completed at the national level. He said that it should be implemented at both school and college levels from the academic year 2023-24. Gangadhar Meher University Vice-Chancellor Professor N Nagaraju was the chief guest for the inaugural session presided over by Meenketan Tasshi, while Regional Director of Secondary Education Vikas Chandra Pradhan, OSTA President Vinod Bihari Manigarahi and Acting President Vikari Charan Sahu were the guests of honour, National Council of Education and Research (NCERT). Former director of New Delhi Professor Hrishikesh Captain presented the thesis. ‘Setu’ editor Sukant Kumar coordinated and introduced the guests. At the end, Setu executive committee member and Osta Sambalpur district editor Hari Narayan Panda gave vote of thanks. Representatives of secondary school teachers from 10 districts of West Odisha participated in this ceremony. In the two technical sessions held later, OSTA editor Prakash Chandra Mohanty and retired English professor Dr. Kamdev Sahu participated as a critic. In both of them, the former chairman of the teacher education college of Balangir Dr. Umesh Khadanga presided, while the chairman of Kalahandi Teacher Education College Dr. Suruchi Sahu, Faculty of Education, Garuda Dhwaj Barik and Gangadhar Meher University. At the end of the session, a question and answer session was held.
