Sambalpur: Sitalsasthi Festival; Bride’s Parents Chosen for Shiva’s Wedding, Donation Collection Begins from Today
Sambalpur: Today is the first festival of Sambalpur’s Sitalsasthi. Today, the mother and father of the bride will be selected for Shiva’s wedding. This afternoon in traditional rituals at various Shiva temples, after worshipping, a plate (thal) will be lifted from the temple, and donations will be collected for the Sitalsasthi Yatra.
The Sitalsasthi Yatra committees of various temples will start collecting donations for the Yatra.
Along with this, the newly chosen bride’s father and mother will also start preparations for the marriage of Goddess Parvati. Every year on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, there is a tradition of raising a thal for the Sitalsasthi festival.
The famous Sitalsasthi Yatra is based on mythological stories. The wedding ceremony of Maa Parvati and Shiva Shankar is celebrated on Jyeshtha Shukla Purnima, and the next day, Sitalsasthi Yatra is celebrated.
At this time of the year, political movements continue as there are elections. In view of the Sitalsasthi Yatra, the two main rivals of the Sambalpur Lok Sabha Constituency, BJP candidate and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and BJD candidate and BJD State Organizational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das, are expected to participate in this program in various areas.
