Sambalpur: SMC Take Firm Action Against Footpath Obstructions in Golbazar, Prioritize Pedestrian Rights
Sambalpur: Prioritizing the needs of pedestrians in the city, the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation (SMC) has taken hard action on footpath encounters. For a long time, many traders occupied and obstructed the footpaths, making it difficult for people to walk freely.
A prosecution team directed by SMC Commissioner Ved Bhushan visited the volatile areas of Lakhmitalkies and Golbazar on Tuesday morning. Commissioner BedBhushan confirmed that the sidewalks along the canal from Lakhmitalkies to Golbazar were illegally encroached on, and the process of eviction had begun.
The encounter took place before the officers took action. Many footpaths were successfully cleared and many shops were vacated during the rally. The team seized some items that were installed on footpaths, including temporary roof structures
Bhushan mentioned that the concerned department has been requested to immediately dispose of the seized materials. He further pointed out that there is enough space in the vending zone built behind the Ramsagar Bandh, where traders can conduct their business without obstructing the footpath.
The SMC commissioner emphasized that the campaign to restore footpaths for pedestrians will continue with full force. The authorities are determined to ensure that the city’s walkways are not blocked, allowing citizens to move freely and safely.
