Sambalpur: A young man faced serious consequences for making a fake emergency call to the ambulance service. He falsely claimed that a child was critically ill and needed urgent medical attention. As a result, emergency medical staff rushed to the location, only to discover that there was no patient in need.
Incident from Bamara Block
The incident took place in Dangajor village under Kesibahal Panchayat of Bamara block in Sambalpur district. On Wednesday, a youth named Pintu Munda from the village called the 108 ambulance service. He informed them that a child in Dangajor village was seriously ill and required immediate medical care.

No Patient Found on Arrival
Acting promptly, the ambulance team reached Dangajor village. However, they were surprised to find that no child was ill. When they questioned Pintu, he admitted that he had made the call without any real emergency. He was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the call.
Police Detention and Warning
Following the incident, the ambulance staff handed Pintu over to Govindpur police. Later, the police released him after issuing a strong warning not to repeat such behavior in the future. Such misuse of emergency services can delay help for those who genuinely need it. Authorities have urged the public not to make fake calls, as it wastes resources and may cost lives in real emergencies.
