Sambalpur: State Government’s Efforts to Prevent Accidents; Truck terminals are under construction at three locations in the district

Sambalpur: In Sambalpur district, the State Transport Department has identified land for truck terminals at three places and DPR has been prepared. The state government is going to build a truck terminal for the convenience of road owners to prevent accidents, solve traffic problems, and help drivers. It has been informed by the transport department that the tender process will be done soon. Once the truck terminal is built, the traffic problem on national highways and state highways will be eliminated. In addition, it is expected that the accidents will also reduce Sambalpur-Rourkela Biju Express-O Pandaloi, National Highway 55 Jamankara Block Rashibeda, and this truck terminal will be constructed near Atabira. The state government has provided 10 acres of land for each truck terminal. Along with this, the cost estimate for one terminal is about 20 crore rupees. In the said terminal premises, parking toilets, rest rooms for drivers and helpers, garages, and vehicle equipment can be found together. A boundary wall will be provided for security and security guards will be deployed. Drivers and helpers can rest without fear. Truck drivers are facing many problems. They cannot stop by the side of the road and the police are fining them, sometimes the goods are stolen from inside the truck. Accidents occur when heavy vehicles are parked on the roadside. After the accident, the driver of the truck and other vehicles lost their lives. Road accidents are now a concern everywhere. Accidents can’t be prevented even if careful and strict measures are taken. Therefore, the state government has planned to take preventive measures. Every day, thousands of foreign vehicles ply on national highways and state highways. Biju Express-O alone has a record of more than 4,000 truck movements per day. There is no facility for trucks to stay. Trucks are parked on roadsides. Truck owners hope that the problem will go away when the truck terminal is built.
