Sambalpur: Study Excursion Program of the History Department Students of Gangadhar Meher University
Sambalpur: The students who went to Bhubaneswar in the Study excursion program organized by the Department of History of Gangadhar Meher University to gain knowledge about the caves and stupas of the Maurya period and cleaned the environment to keep the earth clean. The grand program of GMU was graced by Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister for Science and Technology and Social Security and Empowerment of the Disabled, and Sulochana Das Bhuyasi, Mayor of Bhubaneswar.
About 40 students conducted a comprehensive program in Bhubaneswar under the guidance of Gangadhar Meher University History Department Head Dr. Atul Pradhan and Assistant Professor Dr. Santosh Mallik. The field is located in Dhauli, Bhubaneswar, where the students learned about Ashoka’s stone inscriptions and cave and stupa architecture of the Maurya period. To keep the historical area clean, the tourists and local people were explained and cleaned the area. They visited all the temples located in Bhubaneswar. They did a shadow painting program at Bindu Sagar. The students toured the remains of undiscovered ancient temples in Khadagiri, Udayagiri, Mahatma Gandhi Museum of Non-Violence, Odisha Museum, and Lingaraj Temple. Professor Sanjay Acharya, Head Lecturer, Department of Archeology, Utkal University gave a detailed account of the architecture to the students.
