Sambalpur: Success of Excise Department, Huge quantity of duplicate foreign liquor with materials worth Rs. 4 lakh seized and 1 person arrested
Sambalpur: Be careful if you drink alcohol. In the city of Sambalpur, fake liquor has been seized again within a year. In May last year, the District Excise Department succeeded in arresting the fake liquor gang while the Excise Department got success on Friday. On Friday, Sambalpur’s Excise Department raid and cracked down on the sale of fake liquor. The same bottle as the liquor bottle, the liquid inside the bottle also looks the same. You can’t even tell it’s fake by looking at the stamped seal on the bottle. But the whole incident came to light after a Tution teacher was caught selling fake liquor.
According to the information of Rajendra Bothra, who is officer to the excise department, a message was received on WhatsApp from an unknown number on Wednesday regarding the sale of fake liquor in the Ranibandh area of Ainthapali police station. In order to find out the truth, after discussing with the Deputy Superintendent Bipracharan Mandal and Inspector Dhananjaya Patra, ASI Alok Pradhan and Constable Tapas Bhoi were asked to bring the information.
After receiving the information, the special squad and the excise department raided the ranibandh area on Thursday evening. 10,452 fake corks, 450 liters of static, 30 liters of blended spirit, 135 fake labels, 16.2 liters of fake foreign liquor, 5 liters of caramel and a punching machine were seized. The department said that the estimated value of the confiscated property will be more than 4 lakh rupees. In this case, the accused Saroj Behera of Ranibandh has been arrested by the excise department, while the main accused Yashpal Singh Kohli, who supplied the goods, has fled away.
Accused showed the demo
It is normal for anyone to be fooled by the fake wine in the bottle, so the accused showed a demo about how it was packed and what was added. The fake wine consisted mainly of water and sugar, which was bottled and sealed as if it were the original.
The arrested accused passed +3 in chemistry subject while tutoring +2 science students and was making fake wine there for about 6 months.
All the materials were coming from Kolkata. After preparing the fake liquor, this was sent to different areas of Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur district. On the other hand, if any licensed shopkeeper is found to be selling this fake liquor, then the license will be revoked and strict action will be taken against them, the excise department said. On May 5 last year, Sambalpur Excise Department caught a gang making fake liquor. The excise department seized more than 11 lakhs worth of fake liquor and arrested 7 people.
After the gang was caught, it was said that there was a raid on the sale of fake liquor. But taking advantage of this, Yashpal Singh and Saroj Behera started this business in Ranibandh for 6 months. It is said that the investigation is going on as to who else is involved in this.
