Sambalpur: T.P.W.O.D.L. sentenced in consumer court, Biswajit Badapanda got justice
Sambalpur: The Sambalpur District Consumer Protection Commission has ruled in favor of the complainant after hearing a case of no electricity supply and non-inspection.
Last Monday, the chairman of the commission Dr. Ramakant Sathpathi and member Sadananda Tripathi in the judgment of the case directed the SDO of the electricity distribution company ‘Wesco’ (now TPWODL) to return the 55 thousand rupees deposited by petitioner Biswajit Badapanda of Sambalpur on 29th March 2019.
Similarly, the electricity distribution company has been directed to install a suitable meter tested in the meter test laboratory instead of the electricity meter currently installed by the company in the petitioner’s house, and also to pay compensation of Rs 50,000, including legal expenses of Rs 10,000 for negligence in providing service.
The commission has directed the electricity distribution company to pay regular electricity bills to the petitioner every month, and if all the money mentioned in the judgment is not paid within 30 days, interest at the rate of 9 percent per annum will be paid till maturity.
