Sambalpur: The third convocation ceremony of Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) will be held on Wednesday. The second convocation was held amid curfews during the Covid-19 pandemic. Students are joined online. Now that the covid restrictions have been lifted, GMU is once again decked up for the Convocation celebrations. This time medals and certificates will be awarded for the academic year 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Chancellor of the University and Professor Suranjan Das, Chancellor of Jadhavpur University and AIU President, will be the chief guest at the convocation to be presided over by Governor of Odisha Ganesh Lal. Former student of Gangadhar Meher College and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr. Pramod Mishra will be given the honor roll deletion by the university. 21 medals, including 29 memorial medals, will be awarded on the occasion of the third convocation, said the Chancellor of the University Professor N Nagaraju in a press conference held on Tuesday.
On this occasion, 37 people will be awarded PhD degrees, among them 19 are students and 18 are students. This time too, the students who will receive medals and degrees will wear Sambalpuri clothes instead of the more common gowns and caps. Students will wear white pantshirt and cream color saree with Sambalpuri attire with GMU logo. Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Umacharan Pati said the stage guests will wear Sambalpuri Attire. A total of 4632 children will be given certificates. Chancellor of GMU Jugaleshwari Das gave vote of thanks.
