Sambalpur: The Chief Minister took a historic decision, land issue will be resolved and the leases will be given to the people
Sambalpur: Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik has taken a historic decision on Saturday to solve land problems in various places and take a policy decision to give leases to people. The government will give land leases to the families affected by various projects in Sambalpur District Hirakud and Ganjam District Sorda. The government aims to complete the work by the end of this month. It is worth noting that Chief Minister’s 5T Secretary V Karthikeyan Pandian received many complaints related to land acquisition from people during his district patrol. They informed the 5T secretaries about the long-standing problems of displaced persons, and land rights problems of people who have been living on government land for a long time in other places. After informing the Chief Minister about this, a high-level meeting was held today on the instructions of the Chief Minister, and a decision was taken.
In the meeting, 5T secretary V.K. Pandian was accompanied by Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Administrative Secretary Satyabrat Sahu, District Magistrates of Ganjam and Jharsuguda districts, and other senior officials. In the meeting, it was decided to permanently solve the land problem and provide leases to the people. In Jharsuguda district, the problem of the people displaced by the Hirakud Dam is more than 50 years old. 18 villages of Lakhanpur tehsil and one village of Jharsuguda tehsil have been decided in the meeting to solve the land problems of 19 such villages. 1749 families will be given rights over 3231 acres of land. From the month of December, the distribution of leases will start in these 5 villages – Limeitikra, Sahasbag, Lachipalli, Patrapalli, and Duamunda.
5T secretary visited Ganjam district on August 26. After listening to the problems of the people there, the land problem was solved in just 5 days. According to the decision of the meeting, 883 people from 17 villages of the Sorda block of Ganjam district will be allotted houses and the distribution process will be completed by September 22, 2023. Similarly, 168 people will be given land leases and the process will start in October. The Chief Minister has directed the various departments and District Magistrates to take timely steps to resolve the various grievances of the people found during the district visit of the 5T Secretary Shri Pandian. The Chief Minister will review its progress in mid-September this year.
