Sambalpur: The elephants are destroying crops in Naktideul, Demand letter to Chief Minister for Solution
Redhakhol: In various village panchayats under Naktideul block of Redhakhol sub-district, Sambalpur district, Panchayat residents are worried by elephant group’s oppression. On their behalf, youth social worker Nandakishore Pradhan Naktideul, through Community Development Officer Viveka Nand Sahu, has given a demand letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik regarding the remedy for the problem. This panchayat border is Batgaon situated between two rugged forests.
In the evening, elephant group’s entered the farm land near the village and destroyed the paddy crops on a large scale. Over the past few years, more than 30 elephants have attacked villagers and lost their lives. It has been demanded that solar powered lighting system be installed on the road from Naktideul temple street to Angbira Chadchadi village through Batgaon. If solar lights are installed on the roads of different villages of the panchayat, the villagers can travel smoothly. It is also mentioned in the demand letter to build a tower to study the movement of elephants.
