Sambalpur: Fast charging facility for electric four-wheelers (EVs) now available in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Fast charging facilities for Electric Four Wheeler Vehicles (EVs) are now available in Sambalpur. Bharat Petroleum inaugurated the EV Fast Charging Corridor on the Sambalpur-Raipur-Nagpur Highway in a program organized at Hotel Grand Shiba on Sunday. In a press conference organized on this occasion, Bharat Petroleum’s Acting Executive Director (Retail) PS Rabi said that 15 EV fast charging corridors have been installed between Sambalpur-Raipur-Nagpur (both sides 1108 km). This arrangement has been made at Bharat Petroleum petrol pumps.

Charging corridors have been established at a distance of 100 to 120 km. 30 minutes of charging can cover a distance of 125 km. It will cost only 3 rupees per kilometer. He informed that only 30 percent of the expenditure on petrol vehicles will be spent on charging in electric cars. He further said that in the first phase, the charging corridor on the Chennai-Trichy Madurai road was practically set up. After the success of this, Sambalpur-Raipur-Nagpur highway has been set up in the sixth phase after Chennai-Bangalore, Bangalore-Coorg, Delhi-Jalandhar and Srinagar. There are plans to install 200 to 250 more such charging corridors in the next six months. By using the ‘Hello BPCL’ app, one can find out where these charging corridors are located in the country. One can charge their own four wheeler in this corridor without any assistance. Electric charging along with gas facility will also be made available at petrol pumps in the coming days. He also said that Bharat Petroleum has decided to rename its petrol pumps as ‘Energy Stations’. Currently, 5 to 6 thousand electric four-wheelers are being sold in the country every month.

Charging corridors will be arranged in the coming days after the increase in sales of vehicles. As charging takes time, other arrangements will be made in the charging corridors including cafes, he said. India Petroleum’s Eastern Head (Retail) Debashish Nayak said, soon there are plans to install charging corridors in 17 states of the country. This facility will be made available on various highways in Odisha like Sambalpur to Bhubaneswar, Bhubaneswar to Baleshwar, Bhubaneswar to Kolkata, Puri to Kolkata. Bharat Petroleum Odisha Head (Retail) Priyadarshi Panda and Editor Deepak Jain were present at the press conference.
