Sambalpur: The OJU submitted a demand letter demanding immediate implementation of the Journalist Protection Act
Jajpur district Binjharpur area four journalists attacked and one journalist abducted, there is a widespread dissatisfaction with the law and order situation in the country. In addition for the past 17 and 18 days the media people are attacked in Bhuskimal in Seilata block of Balangir district, Sadar area of Cuttack district, Chandbali, Kanas and Pipili in Puri district and the reluctance of the police and the administration to attack the media has come to the fore. Journalists are taking the lead in strengthening the federal system of democracy and co-operate with the government’s system, they have been the victim of attack.
Therefore, the Odisha Journalists ‘Association (OJU) has called for the protection of journalists working in the field, to take firm action against anti-social activists who have been attacked, abused and retaliated during the current elections and to immediately implement the Journalists’ Protection Act in the state. The Sambalpur District Branch of the Sangh (OJU) submitted a memorandum of understanding to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Led by OJU Sambalpur District Branch President Himanshu Shekhar Mishra and General Secretary Saroj Sahu, the journalists met District Magistrate Divyajyoti Parida (IAS) and handed over the demand letter.
During the handing over of the petition today, District President Himanshu Shekhar Mishra, General Secretary Saroj Sahu, Sadhab Pradhan, Ratnakar Vhoi, Lalit Sharma, Shravan Kumar Pati, Newton Ray, Ajay Nath, Jyotis Mohanty, Subrata Kumar Padhi, Biraj Mishra, Naresh Seth, Bhoi, King Jusman Rana, Satyajit Mohapatra, Tushobanta Yoshi, Nursing Bagarti, Dharmendra Patnaik, Manas Sahu, Ajit Banchor were present.
