Sambalpur: The trophy of the Hockey World Cup to be held in Odisha is now touring all the districts of the state. In this series, it will come to Sambalpur on next 4th Jan. Various programs have been organized by the administration for this. There are plans to host mini-marathons, football matches, cultural programs to welcome the World Cup trophy here. The trophy will be displayed to the public at GM University, Commissioners Colony. The trophy from Bargarh will be taken in a procession and handed over to Jharsuguda district. All sportspersons, organizers, sports related persons, students, clubs, sports institutes of the district are directed to be involved in the program related to this trophy.

In Sambalpur district, it is alleged that sportspersons are being ignored by limiting everything to the administrative level. Similarly, the government has ordered for extensive publicity of the Hockey World Cup in the entire state. For that, there are orders to organize different sports competitions in different districts. In Sambalpur district, organized by the Metropolitan Corporation, the hockey, football, khokho, kabaddi etc. competitions are organized in a very artificial manner to eliminate the guilt. There is no collective commitment. When asked the district sports officer in this regard, he said that extensive programs are being organized to welcome the World Cup trophy. Efforts are being made to involve all players and individuals associated with the game. If we get information about someone left behind, we will invite them too. On the other hand, a preparatory meeting to welcome the Hockey World Cup has been held on Friday at 3.30 pm in the conference room of DRDA. All sportspersons, organizers, workers of various organizations and volunteers have been requested to participate in this meeting to be chaired by Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation Commissioner Pradeep Sahu.
