Sambalpur: There is a Shortage of Doctors in the DHH, 3 Doctors will go on deputation
Sambalpur: A severe shortage of doctors has been observed in Sambalpur district DHH. The shortage of doctors has had an impact on healthcare. From rural health centers and sub-district hospitals to urban hospitals, this problem is prevalent. Sambalpur DHH is not spared from this. The district head hospital, which is facing a crisis of doctors, is now in the process of deputing three more doctors to other hospitals.
According to the information, there are 59 sanctioned numbers of doctors in the DHH. Currently, 42 doctors are working. Sambalpur District, including neighboring Sudergarh and Bargarh districts, depend on the main hospitals of Sambalpur district for public health services. Hundreds of patients are coming here for treatment every day due to a lack of beds, it has become common for patients to sleep on the floor in some wards. As the number of doctors here is less, the pressure on the doctors is increasing day by day. Patients are also deprived of quality medical care. In view of this, there is a demand to fill up the vacant posts of doctors, to increase the number of beds, and to fill up the new posts of doctors accordingly.
Despite all this, the state government is ignoring Sambalpur by not appointing doctors as per the requirement. Meanwhile, the district health department is planning to send 3 doctors from the district head hospital on deputation to other hospitals. In this case, there is a risk of further disruption of medical services in the DHH. Public unrest here could turn explosive in the coming days if patients are deprived of minimum medical care. The state government has been demanded to fill up the vacant posts of doctors in the district immediately. The CDMO could not be contacted through mobile phone for a response in this regard.
