Sambalpur: There is an Odisha Niramaya Scheme, so why Private Medical Stores?, Remove all Private Medical Stores from Vimsar – OMTA
Burla: There is a Sairam Medical Store and a generic drug store called Daba India which opened near Vimsa Blood Bank in Burla. Health Secretary and Commissioner Shalini Pandit Vimsar directed the Chairperson Professor Jayashree Dora to cancel the lease of these two shops on Monday 9 letter number 22682/11/9/2023).
According to this directive, from February 27, 2015, no new private drug stores will be allowed to open in the Vimsar area, It was ordered in letter number 4538 from the Department of Health and Family Welfare of the state government. Two private drug stores, namely Chaudhuri Medical Store and Campus Medical, have been open on the Vimsar premises for many years. The question arises that these two private drug stores will be open in whose interest.
It is also being discussed that the authorities should check whether the leases of the private pharmacies are active and whether they are depositing the monthly rent on time. On the other hand, Odisha Medical Teachers’ Association (OMTA) President Dr. Pramod Sharma in his response said, “The private pharmacies in the Vimsar area should removed.” The Director General and Superintendent of Vimsar shall issue a notice to the illegal shops and immediately evict them.
In this regard, it is necessary to draw the attention of the RDC, District Collector, that in 2015, the state government wing OSMCL has been providing free medicines to the patients coming to the hospital through the Niramaya Scheme.
However, the state government is unable to provide all the medicines to the poor patients in the medical scheme, so it is necessary to have private medicine shops on the hospital premises, asked Odisha Medical Teachers Association (OMTA) President Dr. Sharma.
