Sambalpur: After the announcement of the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation, the number of lanes has been increased periodically and garbage is being collected from the houses of the Corporation. In addition, in various commercial areas of the city, two vehicles are collecting garbage in front of shops. According to the information, 39 LCVs and 64 Battery Operated Vehicles (BOVs) are collecting garbage in the morning in 41 parts of SMC while 8 LCV vehicles are collecting garbage in the afternoon on commercial routes.
Efforts are being made to increase the number of battery-powered vehicles in the future. However, in some areas, there are allegations of dumping household waste on the roads. Similarly, in spite of the fact that there are two garbage vehicles in the commercial area (Commercial Zone), some traders are seen throwing the garbage on the road without putting it in the vehicle.
District Pollution Control Board, Ward Officers, Sanitation Officers, Supervisors, Sanitation Inspector, and Enforcement Team jointly conducted a raid in the areas of Ainthapali and Budharaja. A fine of 25 thousand 420 rupees has been collected from the shopkeeper for not giving garbage in the garbage vehicle. Apart from this, a fine of 1 lakh 6 thousand rupees has been imposed on the shopkeepers for not having their trade license and 5400 rupees for the sale of polythene. In the future, strict action will be taken against those violating the rules and the police force will be tightened, it has been informed by the Metropolitan Corporation.
