Sambalpur: Sambalpur University Launched Three Types of Medicinal Tea to The Market; Now Also Available on Amazon and Flipkart

Innovative Research in Herbal Tea

Sambalpur: Sambalpur University has been making significant progress in research. The university’s Centre of Excellence in Food Science and Nutrition, along with Orchid Herbal, has developed eight types of herbal green tea. After obtaining FSSAI licenses, central trade licenses, and other government approvals, three variants of Healthy Heart Tea, GlucoCare Tea, and ArthriCare Tea are now available in the market.

A Blend of Traditional Herbs and Premium Tea Leaves

Medicinal herbs collected from Gandhamardan and high-quality tea leaves from Darjeeling and Assam make these herbal teas. Research by Professor Pradeep Nayak, Director of Sambalpur University’s Startup Forum and the Centre of Excellence in Natural Products and Therapeutics, confirms the medicinal benefits and healing properties of these teas.

Health Benefits of the Three Herbal Teas

  • Healthy Heart Tea: Made with ingredients like arjuna bark, pipli, punarnava, ashwagandha, black pepper, and cinnamon, this tea helps in preventing and managing heart diseases. It also reduces bad cholesterol levels.
  • GlucoCare Tea: This tea is rich in Vitamin C and includes green tea, guduchi, ashwagandha, paneer phool, satavari, jamun seed, gudmar, methi, bitter gourd, vijaysar, and senna leaves. It is beneficial for diabetes management.
  • ArthriCare Tea: Designed to relieve joint pain, this tea contains green tea, scented rasna, ashwagandha, pipli, black pepper, and cloves.

Each pack contains 30 tea bags and costs Rs. 360.

Local Doctors Recommend Herbal Tea

Doctors in Burla are already recommending these herbal teas to patients based on their health conditions. Additionally, businesses from New Delhi and Madhya Pradesh have shown interest in selling these herbal teas.

Expanding to Online Markets

To reach a wider audience, Sambalpur University has completed all formalities to list the teas on Amazon and Flipkart. Professor Nayak confirmed that this move will help the university’s herbal green tea gain global recognition.

Future Plans for More Herbal Teas

Apart from these medicinal teas, the university has also introduced flavored green teas like Lemon Tea, Honey-Lemon Tea, and Tulsi Tea. In the premix category, Cardamom Tea and Lemon Tea have been launched. The university plans to introduce 24 more varieties of herbal tea in the future, further expanding its reach in the herbal wellness market.
