Sambalpur University lecturer mental torture case, 3 lecturers including the victim and the clerk questioned
Assistant Professor Rajat Kujur of the Political Science Department, at Sambalpur University, was accused of mentally torturing a Female Assistant Professor of that department. The female professor complained in writing to the VC. The chancellor has taken the incident seriously. In this case, the university chancellor suspended Dr. Rajat Kujur and ordered a nine-member internal women’s inquiry committee to probe the case.
Some others will be interrogated: Committee Chairperson
Today from 3 pm to 6 pm, on behalf of this committee, the victim Dr. Roshni Kujur, along with Dr. Rajat Kujur, another faculty member of the department, Professor Satya Prakash Dash, and Clerk Savita Panda were interrogated. However, while no decision has been taken in today’s meeting, other persons and witnesses involved in the incident will be interrogated, said Professor Binita Naik, chairperson of the investigation committee.
What questions did the investigation committee ask? On asking Rajat Kujur, he said that the committee asked me to give my side in writing against the complaint letter. Then when asked about mental torture for many years, I stood my ground and said that I have known Roshani since 2010. When I was working as a lecturer at the university in 2010, she was doing Ph.D. She used to call me elder brother because we belong to the same society and caste. She was hired in the department in 2016 and since 2018 she has been tied Rakhi every year.
In the complaint letter, it is mentioned that she has been mentally tortured since 2016! If, I was mentally torturing her, then why did she tie me rakhi and think of me as my brother? I have put my side before the committee as to whether a person’s personal and professional character should be separate. However, due to not receiving phone calls, Dr. Roshni Kujur’s reaction could not be taken.
