Sambalpur University student accused of making obscene gestures, student suspended for 6 months
Burla: Another fatal complaint has come from Sambalpur University. Indecent comments have been made to some students. Following this incident, the university authorities took immediate action and expelled one student for six months.
According to information, yesterday some students of the Department of Food Science under the University were returning to their hostel after completing their extra classes when a final year student of suiit college followed them. Also, he make obscene gestures. A tense situation arose in front of the dormitory. Today the Disciplinary Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjukta Das. In this emergency meeting, the Chancellor of the University Dr. Nirapraj Sahu, Warden Sudanshu Mohapatra, Director of Suiit Prof. Basant Mohanty along with Dean of Suiit, Superintendents of all the hostels and other senior officials of the University were present. It has been informed that the said student has been expelled from the university campus for the next 6 months as he has been found guilty after weighing all aspects. When asked in this connection, the director of the suiit Professor Mohanty admitted the incident and informed that the disciplinary committee decided to expel the concerned student from the suiit for 6 months.
It is worth noting that on September 15th, some students of the second year of Suiit College went to the toilet. There is a cold water fridge outside the toilet for drinking water. A fourth year student who was already there made obscene gestures and comments towards the students. In that case, he was expelled from the suite campus for two months.
