Sambalpur University Student Torture Case, Head of the Department, 2 lecturers, and a peon are interrogated

Burla: The Internal Investigation Committee met on Monday regarding the allegations made against Assistant Professor Dr. Shukmuni Meher by a first-year student of Sambalpur University’s Odia Department. The inquiry committee called the head of the department, and two other professors of the department, and the peons were interrogated. Even after 4 hours of questioning, the inquiry committee could not reach a final decision.

The Inquiry Committee could not reach any conclusion

It is worth mentioning that on the last 7 September, the related student filed a written complaint against Assistant Professor Dr. Meher regarding the physical and mental torture to the Vice Chancellor.

Then, on the order of the Vice Chancellor, the senior administrative official, the next day, that is, on September 8, suspended Dr. Meher. Two weeks after the suspension, on 23 September, the first meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Binita Naik, Director of the Women’s Investigation Internal Committee. In this meeting, the accused Dr. Meher along with the victim student presented their side before the investigation committee. A second meeting was held on Monday, five weeks after the incident.
