Sambalpur: Vegetable Vendors are sitting on the Road Side of the city
Sambalpur: As the city of Sambalpur is growing day by day, the population is also increasing. Even in different parts of the city, the number of road stalls and hawkers is increasing. For many years, there have been demands from various organizations to create a vending zone and provide relief to families including roadside vendors. Starting from the main road of the city, stalls and street vendors are sitting on the side of the streets. There is a traffic jam, especially because of the spread of vegetables near Roadside. There are even many burning examples where accidents often occur. However, the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation has failed to construct adequate vending zones. When the general public is facing problems due to the failure of the metropolitan corporation, there is a public debate about how reasonable it is for the district and city administrations to remain silent without taking any action.
Even though the zone has been created, it is still less than the requirement. As a result, many more people are deprived of shifting. There is a demand to identify stalls and vendors in the city and provide them with free vending zones. As the municipal administration has failed to create adequate vending zones, vendors and hawkers are forced to evacuate and run their businesses on the roadside for livelihood. On both sides of the road, there is a problem of traffic. In Govindtola in front of the Fire Station, from Ashapali School to Lakshmi Talkies Street, Sakhipada, Municipal Street, Baidyanath Street, Badabazar, Ainthapali, Bareipali, etc., hundreds of vendors are lying vegetable on the roadside.
There were demands from different quarters that street vendors should be given shelter through the vending zone. Unfortunately, the municipal administration has remained silent without taking any steps in this regard. There was a proposal to build a vending zone near the Ram Sagar Dam, but it has not been implemented to date. Efforts are being made by the corporation to rehabilitate vendors on the roadside through vending zones, although the administration says that when will this be implemented, there is a public questioning. On the opposite side, there is dissatisfaction among vegetable sellers due to the non-availability of vending zones. Unfortunately, the government did not implement the demand for the Vending Zone in the city administration.
