Sambalpur: Vigilance raid the flat of Additional Chief Engineer of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department who invested his Black money in Crypto Currency
Sambalpur: Vigilance officers have been busted after raiding the house of Nihar Ranjan Das, Additional Chief Engineer of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Bhubaneswar circle on Friday morning on charges of embezzlement. 1.75 crore worth of crypto (digital money) was raided from his house which is the first in the history of Odisha vigilance. Nihar is being detained and interrogated. He will be arraigned tomorrow.
Nihar’s flat in Shriram Mansion in Kharvehnagar, Bhubaneswar, her relative’s house in Khurda Sanpal, his father’s residence in Sambalpur Modipada, his own house in Bargarh, his office in Bhubaneswar and a total of Rs 8 crore in . Immovable properties have been assigned.

Additional Chief Minister Nihar was abusing his position and earning lakhs of rupees. He used to invest all the black money in his digital world (cryptocurrency). The main goal is to whiten black money. For a long time, he had invested millions of rupees in Crypto currency. Today, he saw the the vigilance team in flat no. 201 in Sriram Mansion and did not open its door. First, he threw the scanned code of digital account worth lakhs of rupees out of the window. Then he deleted the various apps on his phone and threw it out of the window. But the vigilance team under the flat seized them all. Vigilance has retrieved some of the deleted apps and other data. So far 1.75 crore worth of crypto has been transferred. Vigilance has said that this amount will increase at the end of the investigation.
Besides, Nihar has invested lakhs in ‘PLC Ultima’. Vigilance could not find any information about how much money has been invested in it. He opened more than 70 mails for crypto transactions. He used to write all the mails and passwords in a diary in case he forgot them. Vigilance has seized the diary. A senior Vigilance officer informed that experts will be consulted to find out these digital investments. That will take two days. Then it will be known how much money Nihar has invested online. Among the properties sold so far are 3 BHK flat in Kharbehnagar Shriram Mansion (price 32.5 lakhs), 3 storey house in Modipada, Sambalpur (price is under evaluation), 6 flats in Sambalpur (price 1 crore 27 lakhs), 64.42 lakhs. Bank deposits and insurance, 1 lakh 7 thousand 785 rupees in cash, 332 grams of gold, 2 cars worth 39 lakhs, 2 bullets, and expensive home appliances worth 15.5 lakh rupees. Total installed capacity The value of the immovable property is more than 8 crores. Today’s raid included 5 DSPs, 12 inspectors, 1 SI, 11 ASI and other staff.
