Sambalpur: Vimsar’s city scan machine has again become inactive from 10 pm on Saturday
Burla: After a few days, Vimsar’s city scan machine has again become inactive from 10 pm on Saturday. The CT scan machine went down at 6 pm last Sunday, but after repairs, it became operational on Monday night. However, it has been functional for the past 5 days and it has become again inactive, causing problems for the patients. This expensive test is especially important for accident patients and paraplegics. Why is it deteriorating on a regular basis? On asking Head of Department Prof. B.B Panda, he said, Vimsar has a CT scan machine with 156 slides that too is running continuously (24 hours).
Every day 150 to 160 CT scans of different body parts and 15/20 whole body scans are done at Vimsar. Therefore, this much testing is not possible for a single machine. He further said that after the completion of the construction of the super specialty building, there is a provision to install a CT scan machine with 256 slides. If that works, there will not be too much pressure on a single machine and the service will be provided to the patients continuously. Mechanic has been contacted for repair. Professor Panda expressed the hope that it will be operational within the next two days, that is, by Tuesday.
