Sambalpur: VSSUT become the Nodal Center for the Smart India Hackathon 2023 Grand Finale

Burla: Veer Surendra Sai University of Science and Technology (VSSUT) has become a nodal center for the Smart India Hackathon Software edition. The grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon will be inaugurated on Tuesday. It will continue till the 23rd. The program will be inaugurated at Vssut E-Learning Center on 19th at 8 am. In the inauguration program organized under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bansidhar Majhi, State SDTE Department Principal Secretary Usha Padhee will be the Chief Guest and OUAT Vice-Chancellor Prof. B. B Bishwal, BPUT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amiya Rath and AICTE Advisor Rabindra Kumar Soni will be the guests of honor.

27 teams comprising 165 participants will compete on 20 problem statements at Vssut Nodal Centre. There are three prizes worth Rs 1.745 lakh for the successful contestants. Ministry of Education Innovation Cell’s ‘Smart India Hackathon’ is a nationwide initiative to solve the problems of various organizations like government departments, institutes, etc.

SIH is the world’s largest open innovation model and it awakens problem-solving and innovation practices in students. Since 2017, it has been conducted every year for higher education students in two categories – SIH Software and SIH Hardware. SIH Junior was launched last year in 2022 to inculcate innovation and problem-solving attitudes among school students. The grand finale of Smart India Hackathon is being held from 19th to 23rd December. In SIH 2023, 231 problem reports have been received from 61 departments of 25 ministries. In this year’s grand finale, 12,000 will participate. 2500 SIH teams will go to their respective nodal centers with their mentors to work on problem details. The Ministry of Education’s Innovation Commission and All India Technical Education Council (AICTE) have identified 47 higher education institutions across the country as Smart India Hackathon Nodal Centres.
