Sambalpur: Went to buy a battery scooter and fell into the trap of cyber fraud
Sambalpur: Cyber fraud in Sambalpur is increasing instead of stopping. The Sambalpur police are not able to catch the cyber cheater and they are just reporting and sitting on the case. A government employee living in Dhanupali police station area has become a victim of cyber fraud. An employee working in the Panchayati raj department went to buy cheap battery scooter and fell into the trap of cyber fraud. After the fraud deducting lakhs of rupees from his account, he went to the police station.
According to the information, the employee searched on Google to buy battery scooter during diwali days. He saw a cheap battery scooter on a website and clicked to buy the scooter from there. Called the customer care number to book the vehicle. He was then asked to chat on WhatsApp. The hacker on WhatsApp sent the chart on Monday about various battery scooter models and offered rate chats. Then the employee asked for booking after selecting a scooter. However, the fraud told him that the booking can be done only after paying the advance amount. He first have to paid Rs 80,000 and then Rs 19,999. After paying Rs 99,999, the fraudster did not reply. Called but no one picked up. After realizing that he was a victim of fraud, he lodged a written complaint at the Dhanupali police station. The police have registered a case and started investigating the incident.
