Sambalpur: Woman Drowning in Siphon Incident, Dead Body was found two days later

Burla: On Tuesday, a young woman went missing after going to the Siphon near Burla. Burla fire department recovered the body of missing young woman Nisha Jha from Sambalpur Mahanadi Road Ghat today. Nisha of Jharsuguda area came to swim in the siphon with a male friend and got drowned while taking pictures here.

On the day of the incident, the security commissioner stopped him when the sirens sounded. But because they do not listen to it properly, it is said that Nisha is floating in the river. After the incident, the Odraf team joined forces with the Burla Fire Department to rescue the young woman. Tuesday night’s search was called off halfway through darkness. From yesterday morning to evening, two teams of fire brigade searched the far reaches of the river, but no trace of the young woman could be found.

The family of Nisha Jha, the missing girl, reached Burla yesterday and went to the spot after discussing the incident with the police for a long time. On the other hand, her male friend were detained by the police and released after questioning. Security personnel and fishermen who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident were also questioned. However, Nisha from Jharsuguda area came to visit her sister’s house in Sambalpur. In the evening, along with his male friend from Sambalpur, she went for a walk in the 18000 road to the Siphon forbidden area. While they were taking pictures in the siphon, Nisha was washed away by the stream and today her body was recovered from Sambalpur. Due to this incident, there was a wave of mourning in the local area and in the residence of the family. The district administration has demanded to tighten the security system in the Siphon Prohibited Area.
