Sambalpur: Young Woman Fall in Investment Scam, Cyber Fraudsters Swindle Lakhs of Rupees
Sambalpur: A young woman from Adarsh Colony, under the Sambalpur Town Police Station, has fallen victim to a cyber scam. The cyber fraudster convinced her to invest money with the promise of high returns and ended up swindling lakhs of rupees from her. According to available information, the woman came across an advertisement on social media that promised high returns if she invested. Upon clicking the provided link, she was added to a WhatsApp group where she was in contact with a woman named Miss Radhika from a fake company called Blackstone Management Company.
On the 12th of May, she was given a task to write reviews for some places on Google Maps. After completing the task, she received ₹210. Following this, she was contacted by another woman named Miss Kusika on Telegram, who gave her a task to invest ₹1,000. Upon completing this, she received ₹3,000. She then invested ₹7,000, ₹28,950, and ₹68,950 in three separate tasks. In total, she invested ₹1,04,900. However, she was later informed by Blackstone Management that her account had been frozen and that she needed to pay ₹1,71,000 to reactivate it.
After realizing she had been scammed, the young woman filed a written complaint at the Town Police Station. The police have registered a case and started an investigation into the matter.
