Sambalpur: The city is celebrating Guru Satyaranarayana Bohidar’s birth anniversary on August 1. State and central ministers have also been invited, in addition to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Dignitaries such as Central Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Deputy Chief Minister Kanakvardhan Singh Deo, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Rabinarayan Naik, Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra, and former Rengali MLA Nauri Nayak have all received invitations from the Paschimanchal Ekata Manch.
Proposal for Sambalpuri Heritage Center
The Paschimanchal Ekata Manch highlighted the contributions of Guru Satyaranarayana Bohidar to Sambalpuri language, literature, and culture at a meeting with the Chief Minister at the State Secretariat. They asked that the Guru Satyaranarayana Udyan in Sambalpur be used as the location of a Sambalpuri Heritage Center in his honor. The goal of this proposal is to protect and enhance the Sambalpuri community’s unique legacy.

Recognition in Official Calendar
In addition, the group highlighted the importance of Sambalpuri Day by appealing to the government to include it in the official state calendar. Sambalpuri Day was first observed in 2013, and since then, it has grown in popularity both domestically and abroad, a testament to the general appreciation of the culture.
Statue Unveiling Ceremony
During Sambalpur’s grand state-level Sambalpuri Day celebrations, a statue of Guru Satyaranarayana Bahidar will be unveiled this year. Along with Chief Coordinator Manas Ranjan Boxi and Organizational Coordinator Subodh Kumar Dora, Bhavanish Bhoi, the advocate of the Paschimanchal Ekata Manch, has been actively inviting notable guests to discuss the preservation of the Sambalpuri language and culture, as well as the legacy of Guru Bahidar.
