Sambalpur: Sambalpuri Music Echoed at Closing Ceremony of Youth Festival; Uma’s ‘Banshi Bale’ Song Mesmerized the Audience

Sambalpur: The performance of Umakant Barik mesmerized the audience during the Youth Festival. His rendition of songs like “Bansi Bale Kanhaiya More” captivated the gathering, drawing back a dispersing crowd to witness the magic of Sambalpuri music. Songs such as “Feel My Love”, “Bauri Re Mor Bauri”, and “Le Le Le Baula” filled the air, making the festival ground come alive.

As the evening progressed, renowned Western Odisha singer Umakant Barik took the stage. His presence rejuvenated the crowd, which swelled once again to enjoy his soulful performances.

Performances That Gripped the Audience

  • Satyajeet Pradhan’s Opening Act:
    The evening began with a devotional song by Ollywood singer Satyajeet Pradhan. He sang a hymn dedicated to Lord Jagannath, followed by a soulful tribute to Maa Samaleswari. His repertoire of Odia and Sambalpuri songs kept the audience engaged.
  • Swagatika Tripathy’s Melodious Touch:
    Swagatika Tripathy then stepped onto the stage, delighting the audience with her unique style and voice.
  • Abhilipsa Panda’s Electrifying Performance:
    Next, Abhilipsa Panda sang popular tracks such as “Har Har Shambhu” and “Samku Chhua Bhabi Ne Kulei”. Her performance of songs dedicated to Maa Samaleswari lifted the spirits of the crowd, leaving the Birsa Maidan enthralled.

Guests and Messages of the Evening

The chief guest, Rairakhol MLA Prasanna Acharya, emphasized the importance of the two-day Youth Festival. He encouraged the youth to take responsibility for preserving and promoting Western Odisha’s cultural heritage, including its dance, music, and language. He assured that the festival brings fresh hope and messages for the younger generation.

Other distinguished guests included Debashis Mallik, Head of Hindalco, Hirakud; Jagannath Prasad Nayak, Chairman of Aditya Alumina; Pushpanjali Behera, Chairperson of Dhankauda Block; Pradeep Pradhan, Chairperson of Rairakhol; and Pradeepta Kumar Mohanty, Chairperson of the Kuchinda Advertisement Council. The evening also witnessed the presence of cultural officials, including SM Commissioner Vedbhushan, coordinator Prafulla Kumar Hota, and co-coordinator Ranjan Sahu.

Sambalpuri Dance Showcases Tradition

Students from Vidya Bikash Group performed a group Sambalpuri dance under the guidance of Guru Ranjan Sahu. Sponsored by the District Cultural Council, the performance titled “Amara Sambalpuri” highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Sambalpur and left the audience in awe.

With vibrant performances and meaningful messages, the Youth Festival concluded on a high note, celebrating art, culture, and the enthusiasm of the youth.
