Sambalpur: Sambalpur’s Illegal Parking Continues as SMC’s Costly Recovery Van Left Idle for Months
Sambalpur: To combat illegal road parking, the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation purchased a new vehicle known as the ‘Recovery Van.’ The van was intended to remove illegally parked four-wheelers from the roads with the help of district police. The Municipal Corporation spent a lot of money to purchase this van. However, despite being purchased nearly four months ago, it has yet to be used.

Van Neglected
Instead, the recovery van was left idle in front of the Municipal Corporation office. As a result, rats have damaged many of its components. Recently, a senior Municipal Corporation officer directed that the vehicles parked in front of the office be moved to the left-side parking lot. But because the van couldn’t be moved, a JCB was used to tow it to the left side.
This situation raises a question: if the vehicle is not being used, why was the recovery van purchased in the first place? Not only this vehicle, but several others also seem to be lying unused.
Illegal Parking Widespread
It is worth noting that illegal parking is prevalent in many areas of Sambalpur city. People park their cars wherever they can find space, especially in front of commercial buildings. This illegal parking narrows roads and makes it difficult for people to commute.
