Sambalpur: Shravan’s First Monday; Bol Bam Devotees at Shiva Temples

Sambalpur: Today is Shravan’s first Monday. Shiva devotees will do Jalabhishek for Lord Mahadev. As the annual event approaches, the Kaudiyas are filled with excitement. This Shravan offers 5 Mondays for Jalabhishek, which makes the Kaudiyas especially happy.

Extensive Preparations in Shiva Temples

Thus, extensive preparations have been made in Sambalpur’s Shiva temples and surrounding villages. The temple trusts, administration, and police have all accepted responsibility for ensuring available facilities. The Kaudiyas started their journey to the Shiva temples with water. The streets are filled with chants of “Bol Bam, Har Har Bam,” creating a spiritual atmosphere throughout the region.

Ensuring Safety and Service

On the other hand, police, social workers, members of various organizations, and firefighters are all on alert to ensure the safety and service of the Kaudiyas. The Bol Bam devotees are gathering at Mahanadi Ghats and various rivers and ponds to collect sacred water. After performing rituals with flowers, sandalwood, and incense, the Kaudiyas, carrying Bahungi and Kalash on their shoulders, begin their journey towards various Shiva temples.

Managing Traffic and Preventing Incidents

To ensure the safety of the Kaudiyas, manage traffic, and prevent any untoward incidents, extensive arrangements are in place. Authorities have stationed fast aid and mobile medical units at key junctions. They have also equipped water-lifting points and river sites with disaster response units. Senior officers are present to oversee all security arrangements.

Devotees at Prominent Shiva Temples

Crowds of devotees throng prominent Shiva temples like Somanath Baba, Maneshwar Mandhata Baba, Huma Bimaleshwar Baba, Hatibari Kalpeshwar Baba, and Durgapali Gudeswar Baba. Temple authorities have made arrangements for Kaudiyas to offer their prayers at night and for devotees to have darshan early in the morning. Today, Bol Bam devotees also crowd markets to purchase new dresses and other essentials.
