Sambalpur: Teacher Brutally Beats Student in Sambalpur; Parents File Police Complaint Against Two Teachers

Sambalpur: In Sambalpur, a shocking case of student abuse has emerged at the Sindurpank-based Saraswati Shishu Vidyamandir residential school. A teacher allegedly beat a student so brutally that his back was covered with deep marks. The incident occurred in the school’s hostel, where the student faced inhumane punishment.
How the Incident Happened
According to Sarat Kumar Lenka, a resident of Hirakud, his 13-year-old son, a seventh-grade student at the residential school, was the victim of this cruel act. On March 19, after finishing his annual exams, the boy was joyfully celebrating with his classmates. As part of the celebration, he signed his uniform and playfully scribbled on it.
This act angered two teachers, Rashmiranjan Nayak and Sunil Panda. They became so furious that they beat the boy severely using a rubber stick, leaving his back completely swollen and bruised. The marks were so severe that anyone who saw them would be disturbed. However, the two teachers showed no remorse.

Threats to Keep Silent
Not only did they physically abuse the child, but they also threatened him not to report the incident. They warned that if he spoke about it, there would be serious consequences. This kind of behavior was not new, as there had been previous complaints against these teachers for mistreating students.
Student’s Health Deteriorates
Two days after returning home, the boy was unable to eat or sleep properly. Seeing his condition, his parents immediately took action and filed a complaint at the Sadar Police Station. The case was registered under Sections 115(2), 35(2), and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code.
School Administration’s Denial
Meanwhile, school headmaster Samarendra Karmi denied the allegations of assault. He claimed that the student’s parents made the accusations because of outstanding school fees. He stated that when the teachers approached them to request the pending fees, the parents retaliated by filing this complaint.
The police have issued notices to both accused teachers, and further investigation is ongoing.
