Television Journalist Dies As ODRAF Boat Capsizes In Mahanadi
Arindam Das, a young journalist, was killed when his boat capsized near the Mundali river. The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the state’s media.
According to reports, the boat that went to rescue the elephant fell into a strong current of water. As a result, OTV senior representative Arindam Das and cameraman Prabhat Sinha, who were involved in the news coverage, fell into the water. An Odraff employee was also drowned. The rescue squad wasn’t called for him, and journalist Arindam Das and cameraman Sinha were rescued.
Simultaneously, two media representatives were admitted to SCB Medical. Arindam died there. Prabhat Sinha’s condition is critical and he has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Dr. Bhuvanananda Maharana, emergency officer of Cuttack Big Medical, clarified about the death of journalist Arindam Das. Before working for OTV, Arindam Das worked as a crime reporter in Bhubaneswar on a daily basis.
Schools and Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das mourned the untimely death of senior journalist Arindam Das. He was a hardworking and sociable man. “I pray to Lord Jagannath to give strength to the family members with the wishes of his immortal soul,” Das said in a condolence message.
