Gayatri Projects is responsible for the delay in the work: NHAI

The Cuttack-Anugul, Anugul-Sambalpur four-lane road is being delayed due to unreasonable delays. Traffic light at this time of night, and many locals were watching the rising river, remembering the catastrophic floods. The state government has called for a halt to the construction of the road, which has been criticized by various quarters. At a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, the National Highways Authority (NHA) blamed the contractor for the construction of the 253-kilometer road by June 2022.
“The 253-km road is being constructed in three packages,” said RP Panda, NHAI regional head. Package 6-1 covers 40,200 km of the Cuttack-Anugul road, of which 52% is completed.
In Phase 4-2, 51% of the 40,200 km to 112 km section of Cuttack-Anugul section has been completed, while in Phase 4-3, 55% of the road from Anugul to Sambalpur (112 km to 253 km) has been completed. The work is being delayed due to contractor Gayatri Projects Limited. But we have set a target of completing it by June 2022. Schools, temples and residential buildings were to be demolished in some places due to road delays. This has been delayed due to problems such as land acquisition, relocation of power poles, construction of elephant corridors. “Steps are being taken to address this,” he said.
