The gold medal given by Sambalpur University is not gold , the student’s parents checked the cleanliness & objected
All gifted students have dreams of winning a gold medal in their lives. They spend all day and night studying to win gold medals. However, the reality is that the gold medal is not made of gold. It contains only a few grams of pure gold and other metals. However, there have been allegations that the percentage of purity in the medals awarded to meritorious students at the last 31st Convocation of Sambalpur University was very low.
The 31st Convocation of Sambalpur University was held on April 22. The controversy erupted after a date was set for the convocation. There was widespread outrage over the organization. At the same time, a Sambalpur University student was denied the title of D.Lit. While the controversy has not stopped, questions have now been raised about the purity of gold in gold medals awarded to gifted students. The parents of a student tested the purity of the gold medal yesterday at a jewelry shop in Sambalpur, a well-known company in the country. He was shocked to see the report. The gold medal weighed 7.528 grams and had a purity of only 1.42 percent, according to the report.
It is noteworthy that the convocation ceremony could not take place in the meantime due to the corona cuts. Therefore, at the same time, 33 gold medals were awarded each year for the academic year 2020 and 2021, and 15 commemorative medals were awarded for both years. This means that a total of ninety six students who excelled in various categories were awarded gold medals. The chancellor of the university could not be reached for comment. However, the family secretary, Dr. Asked by Shree Nruparaj Sahu, he did not give a clear answer. Since he was not among the officers / staff employed to make the gold medal, he could not say so, Sahu said. However, he opined that it would become clear once the gold medal was examined.
