The “Samlei” scheme decision hearing about Ghungutipada is over
The ‘Samlei’ scheme is initially vacant 39 acres of land for the beautification and development of the shrine of Goddess Maa ‘Samaleshwari. After demolishing and leveling the government buildings, markets, quarters, etc. in the area, the land is now being registered with the owners of the private houses in phases, with the payment of the portion of the land to be paid as compensation.
The eviction notice was issued to 202 families in Ghungutipada. Of these, 123 families filed complaints. The two-day trial was held on Thursday and Friday at the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan auditorium at the district commissioner’s office, with 70 and 48 families, respectively. It did not include the name of the family, but complained about the member’s name, age or other errors, compensation issues, and displacement.
Under the “Samlei” scheme, the government has promised to provide 650 square feet of land, including compensation for the cost of housing, during the resettlement of each house in Ghunghutipada. They will also be tagged in the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. However, when they wanted to stay near the Samaleswari temple, a place had already been identified in the Durgapali area for Shelter. Villagers have been protesting against the eviction, and demanded that they should be compensated.
Samaleswari Yojana SD Aniruddha Pradhan, Metropolitan Corporation Commissioner Pradeep Sahu, Sadar Sub-District Magistrate Suryavanshi Mayur Vikash Development, Special Land Acquisition Officer Aditya Panda and Deputy District Magistrate Sushant Sahu were present during the hearing today.
