Sambalpur: The eleventh meeting of the Bhimsar Management Board was held at the district magistrate’s office on Thursday. It discussed a number of important issues. Sharma applied for voluntary retirement from his post. But as he was a skilled doctor, members opined that his service was important to the people. In consultation with the government, Drs. The proposal to rename VIMSAR Eye Bank 4 as ‘Professor Uddhav Charan Behera Eye Bank’ was unanimously adopted. Professor Behera was the first surgeon in Odisha to undergo a coronary transplant (transplant) of three patients in 1933. He retired in 1955 as Superintendent of VSSS Medical College and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology. The members, therefore, opined that naming the Eye Bank in his name was a welcome step. The meeting decided to demolish various illegal constructions on Vimsar land.
