Sambalpur: The eleventh meeting of the Bhimsar Management Board was held at the district magistrate’s office on Thursday. It discussed a number of important issues. The proposal to rename VIMSAR Eye Bank 4 as ‘Professor Uddhav Charan Behera Eye Bank’ was unanimously adopted. Professor Behera was the first surgeon in Odisha to undergo a coronary transplant (transplant) of three patients in 1933. He retired in 1955 as Superintendent of VSSS Medical College and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology. The members, therefore, opined that naming the Eye Bank in his name was a welcome step. The meeting decided to demolish various illegal constructions on Vimsar land.
