Sambalpur: Theft During Hospital Visit; 4 Lakhs of Cash and Jewelry Stolen, Police Investigation Questioned

Sambalpur: While the family was in the hospital for treatment, thieves broke into the house and stole cash and jewelry worth around 4 lakhs. The incident was reported to Dhanupali police station, and the thieves broke into MD Jalil’s home in Sunapali. They broke through the main door and looted cash and valuable ornaments from the almirah. The stolen items include one gold chain, one pair of gold earrings, two silver bangles, two silver anklets, four silver chains, and other silver jewelry.

According to reports, MD Jalil’s family transported him to Burla for treatment on the 24th due to a medical emergency. When his condition worsened, he was moved to Bhubaneswar. The house was left unoccupied, and the thieves took advantage of that to execute the robbery. When Jalil’s sister-in-law returned to Sambalpur, she found the main door broken and the house damaged. She reported the incident to Dhanupali police, suspecting it to be a robbery.

Police Investigation

The police have filed a report and are investigating what happened. The incident has raised concerns about increased theft, robbery, and other criminal activity in Sambalpur. There are allegations that police patrols need to be carried out more effectively. Although the police claim to conduct regular patrols, there have been complaints that patrol officers frequently remain inside their vehicles rather than actively monitoring the area.

House burglaries are reportedly on the rise in Sambalpur, but the police have not taken adequate action to address the situation. Despite having modern facilities, police have been unable to apprehend major criminals. While minor arrests for petty theft and illegal liquor seizures are being made, major crimes remain unsolved. This has resulted in growing public dissatisfaction, with questions raised about police investigation methods.
