Sambalpur: Thieves Rampage in PHD Padia; Mangal Sutra, Bike Stolen in One Night

Sambalpur: The PHD Padia area under the Ainthapali police station has become a haven for thieves. Thousands of people attend the evening market, which is being exploited by antisocial elements. Theft is common among the crowds; some steal phones, while others steal gold jewelry. Certain miscreants have also targeted bicycles. While people are busy shopping and strolling, thieves steal numerous bikes and mobile phones from the market area. Two theft complaints were filed last night at the Ainthapali police station. A woman reported her gold jewelry stolen, and another reported his bike stolen by thieves.

Notably, K. Shrilakshmi of Maneswar had visited the PHD Padia market in Ainthapali with her husband. While shopping, someone stole her gold mangal sutra from her neck. After an unsuccessful search, she filed a written complaint at the Ainthapali police station on Monday night. The police have filed a report and begun an investigation into the incident.

Similarly, Raja Dash of Rani Bandhpada in Bareipali visited the PHD Padia market last night. He parked his bike (OD 17P 7210) and took a walk. He returned two hours later to find his bike missing. Following an unsuccessful search, he filed a written complaint with the Ainthapali police station last night. The police have opened a case and are investigating the incident.
