By Rail

Sambalpur is one of the Divisional headquarters of East Coast Railways. There are four Railway Stations namely Khetrjapur Railway Station, Sambalpur Road Railway Station (Fatak), Hirakud Railway Station (Burla) and Sambalpur City Railway Station, Dhankauda. There are direct connections to all metros and prominent cities across India.

By Road

National Highway 6 connecting Mumbai to Kolkata passes through Sambalpur and M.P; Sambalpur is connected to Bhubaneswar through National Highway 42. There are also two bus stands which are Government and Private. the government Bus stand is situated at Laxmi Talkies Chowk and the Private Bus stand is located at Ainthapali, about 3 km from the Government Bus stand. The private bus stand has more regular bus services to major towns in the areas. Taxis and auto-rickshaws are available for visiting the places of interest and for excursions.
