Sambalpur: On Friday afternoon, a tragic accident occurred near the Kansar petrol pump on the Sambalpur-Cuttack highway under Jujumura police limits in Maneswar. A bike collided with a stationary truck, leading to the death of the bike rider and leaving the pillion rider critically injured.
Details of the Incident
The accident happened around 3:30 PM when Sanjay Lugun (19) and his elder sister Sonali Lugun (20) were returning to their village, Musakani, from Sambalpur on a bike (registration number OD 15 Y 1844). While passing near the petrol pump, they lost control of the bike and hit a stationary truck (registration number RJ 04 GC 2917) parked by the roadside.

Both Sanjay and Sonali were severely injured in the collision. The police quickly arrived at the scene after receiving information and rushed the siblings to Burla hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared Sanjay dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Sonali is undergoing treatment in critical condition.
Police Investigation Underway
The police have seized both the truck and the bike involved in the accident. Sanjay’s body has been kept in the hospital morgue for post-mortem, which is scheduled for Saturday morning. According to Investigating Officer Niranjan Dash, a case has been registered at the Jujumura police station, and a thorough investigation is ongoing.
